The European Central Bank (ECB) has officially unveiled a new digital euro app designed to improve accessibility and drive widespread adoption of the digital currency among citizens and businesses in the eurozone. Designed with diverse user needs in mind, the app supports more than 20 European languages and integrates with the region’s leading banking systems.According to the ECB’s statement, the app features an intuitive interface as well as accessibility features for people with disabilities, including voice control and support for screen readers. Users will be able to make instant payments, store digital euros in a secure wallet, and manage their finances in real time. To enhance security, multi-factor authentication and biometric identification have been implemented. The ECB notes that more than 5 million users have already pre-registered to test the app, demonstrating strong interest from the public and the business community. The introduction of the digital euro is intended to complement cash by enabling fast and secure payments both online and offline. The app is expected to be rolled out to the general public in the coming months, and its integration with public and private services will accelerate the digitalization of the eurozone economy. The ECB emphasizes that the digital euro will not replace traditional cash but will serve as a convenient complement to it, promoting financial inclusion and strengthening trust in modern payment systems.
