Meta is rolling out payments to authors and freelancers in USDC, reinforcing the trend toward stablecoins

06.06.2026

Meta is rolling out payments to creators and freelancers in USDC, reflecting the global trend toward the use of stablecoins in the digital economy. In July 2026, the company officially announced the launch of a new payment system for authors and freelancers, allowing them to receive compensation in USD Coin (USDC)—one of the leading stablecoins pegged to the U.S. dollar.According to Meta, more than 65% of independent authors and content creators have expressed interest in receiving payments in digital currencies due to their transparency, speed, and minimal fees compared to traditional banking transactions. USDC, backed by Circle and Coinbase, enables instant transfers and stable value, which is particularly important for international payments. As part of this new initiative, Meta plans to expand the geographic reach of payments, starting with the U.S. and gradually extending to Europe and Asia. It is expected that by the end of 2026, more than 30% of all payments to creators on Meta platforms will be made in stablecoins. This decision also promotes financial inclusion by providing access to income for those who previously faced limitations within traditional financial systems.Experts note that the adoption of stablecoins by major technology companies is accelerating the widespread acceptance of digital currencies and boosting confidence in innovative financial instruments. For authors and freelancers, this opens up new opportunities for global collaboration and earning income without delays or additional costs.
